Going Green for Sustainable Living!

Save the world

If everyone of us would do a tiny bit more and be conscious about going green to save our environment, we would be in a better place but it is never too late to start. We can still start from where we are, using what we have to achieve environmental goals we are looking to achieve. Choosing to follow a green lifestyle is a conscious effort to minimize environmental impact, reduce utility bills and live a healthier life.

The call to go green and become more eco-friendly is a voice that has been sounded in the society for a while now. However, there is also another doubtful voice that says it is unrealistic and unattainable. Living sustainably is not impossible as people may think. It may not even take much money to live a sustainable life, but what it takes most is the thought and mindfulness of a sustainable life.

In order to step up and be a fearless influencer that makes a difference in the society, you first need to change your lifestyle and lean more towards sustainability and being more conscious about the environment. You can start this quest by putting in mind the 3 R’s of environmental care and management.

The first R of environmental care and management is to reduce. The ultimate goal here is to have zero waste being released into the environment. Simplify your life as much as you can by keeping only belongings that you use on a regular. By reducing what you own, you naturally resolve to buy less and that culminates into less waste being released into the environment.

You also need to make a conscious effort to think before you purchase anything. Ask yourself if you really need what you are about to buy. This is a great way to determine how you are impacting the environment. You can also think of how the production of the product you are about to purchase impacted the environment, and should you buy it, how will it affect the environment when it’s time to dispose it?

Replace disposable products with reusable ones and try as much as you can to make your own products to cut down on waste and control the materials used. Protecting the environment is a conscious decision and effort.

Think Green
Think Green – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The second way to go green and protect our environment is to reuse products instead of using them once and disposing. For instance, instead of buying disposable products like plastic cups, you can opt for glasses and cups that do not need to be disposed of after a single use. The media is always enticing us with attractive adverts of new and improved or special products that send us into impulse buying because of how attractive the advert looks.

In real sense however, we already own enough that we could survive on for a while if we try to reuse what we already own. Take advantage of garage sales; one perfect way to reuse products. You can also donate or buy used items like household items, cellphones, clothes and many other items. Buy durable products that will serve you for a longer time before they require replacement.

Recycling means taking products that would otherwise be thrown into the trash can, and transforming them into something useful. Recycling saves you money and minds about the environment in the process. Making a new product requires a lot of energy and materials since raw materials are required. Recycling used products saves natural resources, protects the environment and saves you money.

You can also switch to renewable energy, natural eco-friendly products and make other environmentally conscious decisions. These can seem overwhelming at first but in the end it pays. Recycling products prevents pollution, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions that also contribute to global climate change as it helps sustain the environment for future generations.

Being conscious of our choices will help us, in the end, to make small changes towards a healthy and more sustainable environment for us and our future generations. It only needs one step to impact the earth, one decision at a time. At Merculex Energy Solutions, it is our responsibility to promote eco-friendly brands and products.
